Sharon Meyers, the daughter of a university professor, was born in Germany and raised, for the most part, in southern California. Her love of science, she inherited from her father. Her curiosity, and eagerness from her mother, who was a stage actress before the first of Sharon's five brothers and sisters were born. Sharon knew, almost from the beginning, she would join Starfleet. At first, she had considered a career in medicine.

But, her desire to follow a similar path as her father lead her to study life sciences at the Academy. She graduated, with honors. And she has performed her duties as a science officer exceptionally since her first posting abaord the scout ship, USS Lupus.

Her posting as Chief of Sciences aboard the Expedition is her first assignment as a department head, and it comes on the heels of her promotion to Lieutenant Commander after a two-year tour of duty aboard the USS Intrepid. In addition to her commission as a Starfleet officer and her training as a bridge officer, Sharon also holds a doctorate in Quantum Physics and degrees in Astrophysics and Quantum Mechanics. She is just as often referred to as "Dr. Meyers" as she is by her rank.

A beautiful woman with short-cut blonde hair and a soft, almost musical voice; Sharon is the kind of person everyone wants to get to know. And she's not the shy type. But, she can be somewhat "bookwormish" for some people's tastes, as she is almost always working on a lab project- even to the point of dragging her experimenting equipment into the officer's mess at mealtime. When she can tear herself away from her work, she does know how to have fun.

She loves water sports, and old Earth automobiles. And when she's looking to pass the time aboard ship, she pulls out her flute. She is fairly proficient on the instrument, although a few sour notes do escape. She has been playing the flute since she was 15.

One of the best science officers in Starfleet; Captain Connor personally requested Sharon for the post aboard the Expedition, knowing that if her command ran up against even half of what Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise had discovered, the Expedition would need the best in the fleet at the Science Console.
